The guitar stylings of Adam Rafferty
Jun 27th
Adam Rafferty is a guy i’ve been following on youtube for a while now and he continually puts out great acoustic videos. I’m currently watching his rendition of Billie Jean by the late Michael Jackson (also below). Enjoy a selection of my favorites and for some more great acoustic tunes, check out the one and only Tommy Emmanuel
RIP Michael Jackson
Jun 25th
So Michael Jackson died today at the age of 50. Here’s a little snip from the LA times
Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead today after paramedics found him in a coma at his Bel-Air mansion, city and law enforcement sources told The Times.
Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Steve Ruda told The Times that paramedics responded to a 911 call from the home. When they arrived, Jackson was not breathing. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda said.
Hundreds of reporters gathered at the hospital awaiting word on his condition. The sources, who spoke on the condition that they not be named, said family members rushed to Jackson’s bedside, where he was in a deep coma.
The circumstances of Jackson’s death remain unclear. Law enforcement sources said that Los Angeles Police Department robbery-homicide detectives have opened an investigation into the death, though they stressed there is no evidence of criminal wrongdoing. The detectives plan to interview relatives, friends and Jackson’s doctors to try to figure out what happened. The L.A. County coroner’s office will determine a cause of death.
A Los Angeles Fire Department source told The Times that Jackson was in full cardiac arrest when rescue units arrived on scene. A doctor was in the house performing CPR on him, said the source, who asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
In memory, here are some of his ‘classic moments’. (fromt he Michael Jackson youtube channel)

Kutiman
Mar 11th
So many people do mashups nowadays (take a bunch of applications or videos and make them into something new that it wasn’t necessarily meant for). This Israeli guy named Kutiman has spent 3 months mixing unrelated music videos to make some very cool beats and is getting a lot of attention. Check out his site – Thru You where you can watch all the videos in a nice simple layout (here). TechCrunch ran an article today describing how artists like Kutiman are changing the landscape of music – ‘Kutiman Killed the Video Star‘ is the name of the post. Check out one of his videos below.
World Builder

If anyone has every used a 3D architect program, like Google Sketchup, or AutoCAD you might find this pretty neat (even if you haven’t used those programs you’ll still likely find this video to be very interesting). A man builds a 3D virtual world for his wife. There’s a little bit of a ’suprise’ at the end in how she actually gets in there but i won’t ruin the whole thing for you…
Hot skateboarding action = The Berrics
Mar 3rd
So Steve Berra and Eric Koston were tired of being kicked out of spots in L.A and whatnot, and having the large sums of money that they have, they bought a warehouse and created their own skatepark – The Berrics. It’s gone through a number of revisions, and you can see a lot of the transformation in a series that DVS shoes has on the park (quicktime required):
The big thing that they’ve been doing for the past 4 months is an epic game of S.K.A.T.E. (aka Battle at the Berrics) with people who frequent the park (SKATE is like HORSE in basketball – someone does a trick, other person has to match that trick). You might want to check out the early rounds but the finals have just finished up and here are the links to the videos (10k top prize!):
There a bunch of other fun stuff to watch as well – like Wednesdays with Reda (lots of inproper language so NSFW) and the Trickipedia (like wikipedia but for skateboarding tricks)
